SD card VT consoles

Preliminary list of known VT-chip-based consoles with MicroSD/TF card loading functionality.

All of these consoles will support .nes ROMs with mapper 0 or 4, in addition to native VT .bin files. Compatibility of .bin files varies by console since they have differing chips. They also have differing max ROM sizes.

Earlier consoles require ROMs to be placed in the folder WMGAME, later ones in GAMES.

  • BL-826A
  • BL-881 "Mini Classic Arcade" (Red one with 2 detachable mini joysticks) (official site page)
  • "Mini machine anniversary edition Entertainment system" (mini NES clone with 30 games and imitation of the original menu) (video)
  • Retro Station Pocket System GB-50
  • Subor Q5 (*custom menu) (official site page) - Only the older version with SUBOR printed in something like Cooper Black Italic. The new version currently being sold with SUBOR printed in a generic sans serif font seems to be emulation based. However listings for the new version still depict the old version. The new version seems to have started shipping in late 2024.
  • "Power of Game Console" "PLAY GAME" magnetic power bank - Model no XH001 (*custom menu) - Seems to exist with other branding too
  • Subor Q8 (Subor rebrand of the XH001 power bank) (*custom menu) (official site page)
  • HaoPaPa Video Game System QS7 (boombox looking thing) (*custom menu)

Unconfirmed

  • Some variant of JJFUN handheld console with built-in compass. I have this version which is emulation based, but earlier review pictures on Amazon seemed to depict a VT-based console with MicroSD card support.
  • An XH002 power bank exists as a successor to the XH001, it has an SD slot pictured but unknown what hardware it runs on (listing)

Consoles marked with (*custom menu) come with (or optionally support) a card that activates a secondary custom menu when inserted. This secondary menu is actually built into the console & is activated when it detects a particular file being present on the card. The card contains the actual ROMs referenced by this menu, but the files are usually obfuscated. To use your own ROMs you can use a blank SD card and add the GAMES folder as normal, this will activate the file browser menu as seen on the other systems.
